Event Description

The exhibition brings together 80 postcards from a private collection on public display for the first time. It offers a chance to connect with precious little objects and explore intimate exchanges frozen in time. Our curators will be conducting guided walkthroughs of the exhibit during the opening weekend. We also have interactive experiences and workshops for families lined up. Delving into the dynamics between print culture, colonial propaganda and the question of identity, these objects offer a glimpse into life in the early 20th century. They enable us to analyse trends in imagery, types of messages conveyed and the demographics of those who wrote these postcards. Most importantly, they humanise a population that existed in a rather turbulent period of history. So wander through time with us as all stories begin here!
