I DIDN'T KNOW THIS ABOUT BANGALORE
A fun session for Children above 8 with Roopa Pai
What part did a hare and hound have to play in the founding of our city? Which much-loved winter vegetable is part of our city's very name? Who was the king who not only invented the world's best rockets but also planted dozens of fruit-bearing trees? How did our little town become one of the first in Asia to get electricity, just 20 years after Thomas Edison invented the light bulb? Which British surgeon made the life-saving discovery that the dreaded malaria was spread by mosquitoes, while he was living in the mosquito capital of Bangalore? How did the headquarters of India's space program come to be set up in our city? Find out answers to all these questions and more in an exciting session of Bangalore stories with author and heritage tour guide Roopa Pai.

About Roopa Pai:
Roopa Pai is a third generation Bangalorean who has carried on a very public love affair with her city for as long as she can remember. This computer engineer is also one of India's best-known children's writers, whose many best-selling books are enjoyed as much by children as by adults. She is also co-founder of Bangalore Walks, a now 20-year-old heritage walks and tours company.
Roopa refers to her city as Bangalore when she speaks English and Bengaluru when she speaks Kannada (and absolutely detests people calling it 'Luru'). She is happy being called a Bangalorean or Bengalurean, however, in every language.
