Runa Biswas’s vibrant interplay of colour and form revives childhood memories, simple joys, and the warmth of youthful friendships. Drawing from both European and Indian miniature styles, her works carry a playful nostalgia and a longing to return to a world of carefree imagination.
Inspired by Indian folklore—especially Bengal’s beloved Thakurmar Jhuli—her paintings feature whimsical characters like Neel Kamal and Laal Kamal, evoking the wonder of childhood storytelling. She also captures early cinematic memories through the itinerant bioscope, with children peering into its magical windows as music plays from a gramophone above.
Blending texture, fantasy, and contemporary folk art influences, Runa Biswas has crafted a distinctive visual language that invites viewers to reconnect with their inner child.
