Event Description

Courtyard Koota and Malhar Laugh Club (MLC) in association with ImproWISE presents a new format, Improv comedy. Improvisation or Improv is a form of live theatre, often comedy, that is unscripted, unplanned, and created spontaneously by the performers. The plot, characters, and dialogue of a game, scene, or story are made up in the moment. Often improvisers will take a suggestion from the audience, or draw on some other source of inspiration to get started.

ImproWise is an Improvisational Comedy Ensemble created & performed by four of the best comic talents in the country: Sonu Venugopal, also known lovingly as her popular online character Baaju Mani Kaaku, a locally loved and famous Kannada stand-up comic, wins the heart of our audience members by just being, well, herself! A new mom, talented content creator, stand-up comedian, improviser, and overall rockstar, Sonu shines in our ImproWISE cohort.

Karan Edward Machado, better known as RJ Kay is the former host of Good Morning Bangalore which aired every weekday on 94.3 Radio One, India's only International Radio network & TFM, Oman. He was the current youngest radio show host in Bangalore and has done everything right from interviewing Bollywood stars to International stars like Jason Derulo, Ellie Goulding, Shaggy, Hrvy, Mike Posner, and even celebrity master chefs from MasterChef Australia. Currently, he is exploring the startup space with a company in music, media & content. 

Shreyas Rao is a true blue Bangalorean. Shreyas leads programming for India’s coolest music brand. He hosts talk shows, is a regular at the open mics, and creates content with a bunch of fellow creators, some of his characters are nationally loved! Shreyas loves all things local, is an Idli elitist, and through the awesome combination of humor and humility puts everyone around him at total ease! 

And, Diptarka Ghosh is a Bengali stand-up comedian from Bangalore who grew up all over India. He has shared the stage with most renowned comedians like Atul Khatri, Kanan Gill, Kenneth Sebastian, Zakir Khan, Jeeveshu Ahluwalia, and many more, and is also an aspiring musician, photographer, and videographer. He brings a different kind of humor on stage and also sings about funny stuff!
