Event Description

The In C Workshop offers an immersion into the work of Berlin-based choreographer Sasha Waltz under the guidance of Bangalore-based dancer and choreographer Joshua Sailo and Ageliki Gouvi, dancer and choreographer from Greece. In C is initiated by Sasha Waltz and Guests (SW&G), Germany, consisting of a new piece of choreography by Sasha Waltz and created to the contemporary music composition by American composer Terry Riley. About the workshop*: Diving into the choreographic process of In C, dancers will learn the repertory as a reflective tool for playing with composition and rhythm in a dialogue between dance, music and space. Dancers will explore a series of tasks that call for collective and individual choices, and perform a dynamic range of movements within an improvised structure that gives power to the ensemble and freedom to the individual at every moment. This workshop is underpinned by two guiding questions: How can you make a difference with your own choice? How do you find pleasure in dance encounters? This piece invites dancers to balance the space, tune into one another, and actively negotiate their individual choices to make various departures, confluences, harmony, and tension to find resolution. *The workshop is recommended for dancers with at least 2-3 years of training. Dates: February 10 - 17, 2024 (except Sunday) Time: 10.00 a.m. - 3.00 p.m. Venue: Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Register here to participate. Registration is limited to first 15 applicants.
