Event Description

Intersections is a solo exhibition by senior Indian artist Ashok Bhowmick, presented by Artisera in collaboration with Delhi-based Dhoomimal Gallery. Marking Bhowmick’s first solo exhibition in Bangalore, the show brings together five decades of his practice across painting, drawing and sculpture. Known for his distinctive use of cross-hatching, Bhowmick builds his works through thousands of individual lines, creating depth, light, shadow and form. The exhibition brings together some of his recurring subjects, including workers, coal miners, birds, animals and the figure of Amina, tracing the visual language that has evolved throughout his career. Bringing works from different periods and mediums into dialogue, Intersections reveals the connections between the subjects and ideas that have remained central to Bhowmick’s practice. The exhibition also marks a collaboration between Artisera and Dhoomimal Gallery, one of India’s pioneering galleries for modern Indian art, bringing Bhowmick’s work to Bangalore audiences for the first time in a solo presentation.
