Event Description
Janamana Samskrutika Sangathane, a Mysore-based cultural organization, has been engaged in taking theatre, music, and theatre workshops to the people for over three decades. It is the brainchild of H Janardhan, a former Director of Rangayana. Janardhan began as a young naturally talented singer performing in anti-Emergency and other protest plays in Karnataka in the 1970s. After gaining formal theatre training at the National School of Drama, New Delhi, he played an active role, along with BV Karanth, in the setting up of Rangayana. He has also been closely associated with Kannada cinema, winning awards for playback singing. He has also won the Karnataka Nataka Academy award. A passionate practitioner of the use of street theatre in the literacy campaign, he has been the Karnataka state convener of the literacy movement. Janamana will be performing folk songs, vachanas, songs from plays, and progressive music.
