Event Description

Kalarippayat is a dynamic form of Meditation to understand your body and also to have an activated spine to have a firm grasp on your physical self. The Training in Kalarippayat is based on 3 Phases. 1. Mei Thari- is the process to train your body to achieve heightened physical abilities to have better Body control, Balance, Agility , Fluidity, Strength, Elevation and a Strong base. 2. Kol Thari- is the process of training in Wooden weapons to achieve control of the weapon as an extension of your physical body and co-ordination with a practising partner to understand not just your own physical self but also to have awareness about bodies around you. 3. Anka Thari- is the process of training using metal weapons and also fighting/sparring techniques to understand your physical movement and increase your reaction to the other bodies surrounding you. Even though all these phases play a major role in fine tuning and structuring your physical abilities, the base of everything is Mei Thari or Body Preparative Exercises. About the instructor: Raam Kumar is the great grandson of Veera Shree CV Narayanan Nair, who took Kerala`s physical culture to new heights. CV Narayanan Nair, is the founder of Kerala Kalari Sangham (in 1933) and the person who re-discovered Kalarippayat to its present form.
