Event Description

Last week, Tamil Nadu's Kattaikkuttu stole the show - this week, enjoy Kerala's Kutiyattam in Ranga Shankara's 'View from the 4th Row'!

Natanakairali's 'Abhijnana Sakuntalam', in the richness of India's oldest extant theatre form, was a super-hit in our 2010 Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival, meeting with rave reviews and quite a few standing ovations! Adapted to stage from Kalidasa's Sanskrit epic and directed by Guru G Venu, 'Abhijnana Sakuntalam' features foremost Kutiyattam practitioners Kapila Venu, Sooraj Nambiar, and Ammanur Rajaneesh Chakyar, accompanied by musicians Kalamandalam Rajeev, Kalamandalam Narayanan Nambiar, Kalanilayam Unnikrishnan, and Kalanilayam Haridas.

Watch King Dushyanta and Sakuntala's story unfold in Ranga Shankara's 'View from the 4th Row', streaming on our YouTube channel from 10 AM, Fri, 11 June onwards, till 11:59 PM IST on Thu, 17 June 2021.
