Event Description
Kalpavruksha is the Eternal Banyan, standing witness to Time and Life. Generations of men and women have rested in her shade and shared a part of their lives with her. She accepts them all like the ocean that welcomes every stream of water. And in that acceptance, every one of their stories becomes a part of hers. She stands today too, regal and majestic. As we walk her shade, she beckons with stories of the past, stories of our times and stories that are beyond time itself. Come, Listen to Her. Kalpavruksha breaks boundaries of classical and contemporary, connoisseur and layman: it aims to build bridges between artiste and audience in the most authentic way possible, by being nuanced yet relatable. It explores the stories of man and woman from differing perspectives. Bringing together English spoken word and Bharatanatyam, along with contemporary carnatic music and percussion, this production speaks to today’s audience in earnest contemplation of stories from the past, present and what could be of the future.
