Event Description

Ranga Charaka presents an immersive journey into Kamsale, a vibrant folk art form deeply rooted in devotion, storytelling, and rhythmic precision. Curated by Tvarita Arts Collective India in collaboration with BIC, this event offers a unique opportunity to experience Kamsale beyond the stage.

The evening will unfold with interactive discussion and activities, allowing audiences to explore Kamsala through movements, instruments, costumes, and traditions up close. Inside the auditorium, a blend of live demonstrations, storytelling, and an electrifying performance will bring to life the spiritual essence of this high-energy art form. With its origins in the worship of Lord Mahadeshwara, Kamsale combines intricate footwork, synchronized cymbal movements, and powerful chants, making it a mesmerizing spectacle of devotion and discipline.

Join us for an evening of learning, interaction, and cultural celebration as we delve into the legacy of Kamsale, bridging the past with the present through the power of folk traditions.

This is the second performance of our new series BIC Jaanapada.

BIC Jaanapada is a bi-monthly (once in two months) series celebrating Karnataka’s folk traditions through the lens of regional identity and cultural preservation. Curated in collaboration with Tvarita Arts Collective India, the program combines scholarly discourse with live performances to explore the deep connections between geography and artistic expression. Through demonstrations, performances, and academic discussions, each session examines how landscape and local culture have shaped these distinct artistic practices.
