A Grand Celebration of Craft, Culture & Community - This August, Bengaluru opens its heart to a rare confluence of heritage, craftsmanship, and storytelling as Karigar Bazaar returns with its most immersive edition yet. From 9th to 17th August, the resplendent lawns of Jayamahal Palace will host over 140 master artisans from across the country—each carrying the soul of a tradition, the strength of a lineage, and the beauty of the handmade.
What makes this edition truly extraordinary is its scale: artisans hailing from 26 states and union territories of India—including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Odisha, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, and the national capital Delhi, among others—will converge under one roof. Joining this vibrant tapestry is a special international presence from Afghanistan, making it a global celebration of craft and culture.
From the Hands of the Makers: A Showcase of India’s Finest Craft Traditions
Every corner of the bazaar pulses with skill and sincerity—be it the patient warp and weft of looms or the rhythmic chisels on wood. This year’s edition brings together a kaleidoscope of crafts from across the subcontinent:
● Timeless Textiles & Weaves: Maheshwari, Chanderi, Bhagalpuri tussar, Kotpad, Jamdani, Ikkat, Ajrakh, Bagru, Dabu, Bandhani, and Shibori from states like Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu.
● Embroideries & Surface Arts: Intricate traditions like Phulkari, Ari, Chikankari, Kantha, Sindhi embroidery, Patwa, Zardozi, and eco-print techniques offer wearable heritage.
● Folk & Tribal Arts: Explore India's visual storytelling through Bhil, Gond, Madhubani, Worli, Miniature, Kalighat, Kavad, Pattachitra, Mandana, and Pichwai paintings.
● Sustainable & Natural Crafts: Witness innovation through banana fibre, sabai and golden grass weaving, moonj, felt, papier mâché, recycled textile crafts, and elephant poo paper products.
● Jewellery & Accessories: Traditional silver, Afghani designs, meenakari, kundan, beaded styles, and tribal adornments alongside handcrafted pouches, juttis, belts and Lac bangles.
● Home & Lifestyle Decor:, carved lamps, brassware, wooden toys, ceramic wares, incense, neem wood combs, organic teas, and delightful paper and stone art.
● Artisan Foods: Handcrafted laddus, pickles, namkeen, herbal infusions, and churan offer a taste of nostalgia from every corner of India.
Over 140+ artisans from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat, Karnataka, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Maharashtra, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Puducherry, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Punjab, and even Afghanistan will be presenting their craft in person.--“Yella handmade-u, yella heart-made-u!” — Every creation comes not just from hand, but from heart.

Adding to the immersive atmosphere are soul-stirring daily performances by traditional and contemporary Indian artists. These performances are designed to complement the spirit of Karigar Bazaar — bridging the past and the present through sound, rhythm, and storytelling.

From the earthy beats of Rajasthan’s deserts to the bold voice of contemporary Indian rap, Karigar Bazaar’s cultural programming bridges centuries — echoing the stories of India’s villages in the language of today.-- “Hadu, kaleya haadu” — Songs that carry the legacy of craft.
Regional Food Court – A Culinary Journey Through India
No cultural experience is complete without a feast. The food court will serve a diverse menu of regional delights — from freshly prepared dosas and North Indian thalis to pickles from the hills, namkeen from Rajasthan, and fusion street food that speaks Bengaluru’s modern food dialect.
