About the musicians
Vishal Moghe
Pune-based Vishal Moghe is a fine khayal singer of his generation. Representing the Agra and Gwalior gharanas, he has learnt from five gurus, including the stalwarts Pandit Balasaheb Poochwale and Pandit Sharad Sathe of the Gwalior gharana and Pandit Arun Kashalkar of the Agra and Gwalior gharanas, from whom he continues to learn. An A-grade artist of the All India Radio, he has performed at important venues, including most recently at the Tansen Samaroh in Gwalior. He has also acted and sung in several Marathi musicals. He has an MA in music from the Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune, with an outstanding grade, and is a sought-after guru for two MA programmes in music in Pune.
Sagar Bharatraj
Bangalore-based Sagar Bharatraj is a sought-after tabla player known for his perceptive, unobtrusive and dexterous style. He trained under his father Pandit Bharathraj Venkat Rao and was subsequently guided by Pandit Ravindra Yavagal. He has also been guided in the art of vocal accompaniment by the Agra gharana singer Vidushi Aditi Upadhya. He has a PhD from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and consults with the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology.
Niranjan Hegde
Bengaluru-based Niranjan Hegde is a reputable harmonium player who has distinguished himself both as an accompanist and a solo artist. He has learnt from three gurus, including Pandit Vasant Kanakapur. He is now training with Pandit Sudhir Naik.
