Kintsugi is the Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with gold. Instead of hiding the crack, you highlight it, and the piece ends up more interesting than it was before it broke.
We use it as an art therapy process. You'll get your own ceramic piece, break it, and spend the morning putting it back together and finishing the seams in gold. Alongside the making, there's guided journaling and space to talk, so you're reflecting as you work rather than just doing a craft activity. The session is designed and led by psychologists, so the room is properly held.
No artistic ability needed. Genuinely none. Most people arrive slightly unsure and leave not wanting to go.
Meet the facilitators:
Ayesha Dastagir - A psychologist and counsellor with 12+ years of experience, specializing in CBT and cognitive hypnotherapy. She blends mindfulness-based techniques to help individuals build self-awareness, resilience, and emotional well-being.
Jeniffer Johnson - An art-based therapist, counsellor, and co-founder of Elevate Mind. She believes in the power of creativity for healing and helps individuals explore emotions, transitions, and self-discovery through artistic expression.
