Komal Theatre presents “Draupathi” a Mega Theatrical Production about the Epic Woman of Mahabharata through all art forms – Music, dance, and drama in poetic Tamil at Bangalore Gayana Samaja on Saturday the 22nd of April at 6 PM Draupathi is the heroic princess of the Hindu epic Mahabharata, a multi-talented, strong woman with an unbending will and is an enigmatic woman of substance!

The Play depicts how this woman of Dvapara Yuga is deceived by circumstances, how she is torn between the power struggle and the ego of men, and how she is forced to accept situations for the sake of men around her. It shows how she managed all of them and succeeded in the process. It also brings to light how she dealt with five husbands and consolidated their various talents and established dharma. The Play was inaugurated last August and has enthralled audiences across Indian cities and the Middle East cities Dubai and Muscat and is now coming to Bangalore for the first time.

Mahakavi Bharathi's great grand-son Raj Kumar Bharti has composed the music and background score for this play beautifully in Carnatic style. For the first time in the history of Tamil drama, an audio launch was held, and the songs were released. Poet Satish Kumar has written the dialogues in a poetic style for the first half whereas the dialogues in the second half of the play are the poetic lines from Bharathiyar’s Paanjaali Sabatham. “Many people still don't know the background of Paanjaali's Vow, especially the youth of today, it seemed to be the need of the day to show the struggles faced by a strong woman in Dvapara Yuga,” says the director Dharini Komal, who has written the play as well.

The play runs for 130 minutes filled with a mega backdrop in LED and elements like dance, sword fight, and Poetic Tamil dialogues and songs. Many seasoned artists are performing epic characters.
