Krshala Dance Theatre Presents Kathak Dance Drama “AMRAPALI” the rise, the fall the awakening by Simran Godhwani & Ensemble on Saturday, January 21st , 2023 at 5:30PM at Bangalore International Centre, Domlur, Bangalore. Kathak Dance Drama “AMRAPALI” The Rise, The Fall, The Awakening is a dance drama celebrating the spiritual journey of Amrapali, the famous Nagar-Vadhu of the Republic of Vaishali in Northern India, sometime during the period 500-600 BC. The production traces her rise to power and material wealth, love and loss, trial and punishment and the final resurrection and spiritual awakening. While this is based on her story, it is an attempt to trace the trials and tribulations in the journey of many strong women past and present, who broke the mould and stepped out to explore the world and their inner selves on their own terms. Thus, though triggered by events that impact her life on the outside, this is an inward journey of a woman seeking her own ultimate fulfilment and peace within. Presented by Krshala Dance Theatre, “Amrapali” is choreographed and performed by Simran Godhwani and her students. Conceptualised by Prashant Sankaran and Simran Godhwani, the production has original music composed by Muthukumar.
