Event Description

Every year on Independence Day and Republic day, flower shows are organized at the Lal Bagh Botanical Garden. The event is jointly organised by Department of Horticulture and Mysore Horticulture Society.The flower show is the most awaited events in the Garden City.

Exhibition spreads across the garden. Main attractions are placed inside the Glass House. The 212th edition of the Independence Day Lalbagh Flower Show 2022 will be held between August 5 to 15. The previous flower shows were cancellled due to COVID-19.

The 2022 Indepedence Day show is themed on Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar and his son Puneeth Rajkumar. The cost of show is estimated to be Rs 2.5 crores. A torch light will be lit at the Samadhi of Dr Raj Kumar and Puneeth and in Lalbagh till the event is over.

The garden is a lush green paradise with an area of 240 acres in the heart of the city. Nearly 673 genera and 1,854 species of plants are found in Lalbagh. The collection of the plants has made it a veritable treasure house of plants.

Lalbagh is currently under the aegis of the Directorate of Horticulture, Government of Karnataka. The Directorate is housed amidst the splendid environs of the botanical garden. Lalbagh was given the status of a Government Botanical Garden in 1856, and since then, it has been an internationally renowned centre for scientific study of plants and botanical artwork and also conservation of plants.

The visitors are treated with some of the most exquisite floral arrangements.
