In the context of dance, Laya refers to the pace of rhythm and movement. It is not only at the foundation of dance, but also at the core of our lives. With time comes movement, growth and change. In that aspect, time or Taal is very integral to art and to life, in general. Time and tempo in dance are expressed through movement, rhythm and a progression of ideas. Laya and Taal go hand in hand, making rhythm the universal language of dance and music across disciplines. Laya Ki Kahāni, explores Laya and its various manifestations. The artist showcases traditional complex rhythmic compositions and poetry, weaving stories of how ‘Laya’ is integrated in our everyday lives.
