Mogalli Ganesh’s autobiography is a unique and intensely searching narration that often defies the divide between imagination and reality. Ganesh presents his encounters with adversity and triumph with a vision that compels us to look deeper into the human experience. This session aims to unpack the features of Ganesh’s richly novel life narrative, offering insights into the spirit encapsulated within his stories.
The panel will discuss how Ganesh’s richly creative recall of life experiences extend beyond the personal, touching on universal themes that resonate with each of us.

Mogalli Ganesh Writer & Professor, Centre for Folklore Studies, Kannada University
Mogalli Ganesh is a Kannada writer and Professor at the Centre for Folklore Studies, Kannada University, Hampi. His publications include the novel, Tottilu (The Cradle, 2005), the short story collection, Buguri (The Top, 1992) and the work of literary criticism, Thakaraaru: Researches into Kannada Literature (2008) and Dalita Kathana: Cultural Discourse on Dalit Society (2006). Alongside his new autobiography, he has published a novel, Hokkulu (Navel, 2023), and a work of prose-poetry, Alli Yaaru Illa (There is Nobody There, 2023).
N Manu Chakravarthy Film & Literary Critic
N Manu Chakravarthy is a visiting professor of film and culture theory at several universities and film institutes. He won Swarna Kamal, the best film critic award, at the 58th National Film Awards in 2010 and the Karnataka Sahitya Akademi award for his book Madhyama Marga in 2014. In 2022, he presided as the chairman of the jury for the KR Mohanan Endowment Award at the International Film Festival, Kerala. He has recently completed a study of UR Ananthamurthy for the Sahitya Akademi.
H Dandappa Literary Critic & Columnist
H. Dandappa is a Kannada critic and columnist. He taught Kannada Literature before joining the Karnataka Administrative Service in the early 90s. Apart from several edited anthologies on writers and cultural themes, he has published the award winning book of literary criticism, Bhramara Mattu Keeta (The Flame and the Moth, 2016) and a recent work of literary criticism, Bittakke Berina Chinte (A Sown Seed Longs for Roots, 2023) MS Asha Devi Writer, Translator & Professor, Maharani University Asha Devi is Professor of Kannada at Maharani University, Bengaluru. Her publications include the works of literary criticism, Belakiginta Bellage (Whiter than Light, 2016) and Naduve Suliva Atma (The Moving Self Within, 2011). Suresh Nagalamadike Literary Critic & Educator Suresh Nagalamadike holds a PhD in literature from Kannada University, Hampi. He presently teaches Kannada literature at Vivekananda College, Bengaluru. His recent books of literary criticism include, Mannina Kasuvu (Weaving the Soil, 2023), Halavu Bannada Hagga (A Many-Coloured Rope, 2018) and Bayalaaguva Pari (The Way of Revealing, 2017). Chandan Gowda Writer & Academic Chandan Gowda is Ramakrishna Hegde Chair Professor of Decentralization and Development at the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bengaluru. He has recently published, Another India: Events, Memories, People. At present, he is completing a book on the cultural politics of development in the old Mysore and co-translating and editing Daredevil Mustafa, a book of short stories by the Kannada writer, Purnachandra Tejasvi. He is a columnist with Deccan Herald.
