Event Description

Kambara’s “Mahamayi” is about the goddess of death, Shatavi taayi or the goddess of death. Shetavi has a foster son named Sanjeeva Shiva. He is a famous doctor with his mother`s blessings. But his desires to live beyond his mother`s command. A fateful rebellion leads to action in the play. Sanjivasiva, the adopted son of the goddess of death Shatavi taayi, took up the profession of medicine with her blessings. The princess of the palace is suffering from fever. The mother prevents her son from going there because her life is over.A disease-stricken princess goes to Maayi betta to die and catches the eye of Sanjivasiva. He grabs her hand preventing her from going into the cave of death. He also diagnoses and treats her disease. The princess recovers and admires him. The mother gets angry for treating the princess beyond her instructions. Shetavi instructs her son to pull the cord of medicine from the neck of the princess.God`s command is that the one who ties the thread around the princess`s neck should marry her. Accordingly, she is recovering from the disease and spending time in Sanjivasiva meditation. Princess - falls in love with Sanjivasiva and decides to get married. Two people come to Mayibetta trying to get away from their mother. An argument takes place between mother and son. In appreciation of her son`s words, the mother gives her life. Sanjivasiva saves the princess by using the life he got as his mother`s favourite.
