EVENT HAS ENDED
7 4th Main Rd, Stage 2, Domlur 560071
Bridging the yantras of Hinduism and the sand mandalas of Tibetan Buddhist practice, the artists consecrate the stage and the body to a divine purpose of self-realization. Reminding us of the impermanence of life on earth through its illusory harmony and order, mandalas are an architectural blueprint for enlightenment. The 60 minute performance draws us into a portal, revealing the sacred geometry mapping our cosmos. As we are welcomed into the silent interior space of the mandala, potent with energy and discovery, we come to realize that dance, as life, as also the mandala are in the moment – ephemeral and transitory. Each movement in dance, each note in music ritualistically draws in extrinsic energy to manifest a higher consciousness of harmony and peace.
MANDALA is inspired by the construction of the mandala and its geometrical design, its layering of patterns, the subtle interplay of color and design and the focused attention to detail. The dance work recognizes geometric movement syntax expressed in complex rhythmic principles of dance forms such as Bharatanatyam and Kathak.
