Mathe is a Bharatanatyam performance that explores the profound role of motherhood. Through the artistry of dance and poetry in various languages, it delves into the multitude of emotions experienced by a woman when she becomes a mother. The performance unfolds the dedication of a mother, who embraces challenges to protect and nurture her child. From the tender moments with a newborn to navigating the complexities of parenting a young adult, the dance illustrates the connection between a mother and her child, portraying how life comes full circle, revealing the indispensable presence of a mother in every stage of life. Supported by: Performer Shreyasi Gopinath Dancer & Choreographer Shreyasi gopinath is a Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and choreographer from New Delhi, India. Captivated by the beauty of Bharatanatyam, she began her formal training at the age of 7 with guru Dr. Saroja Vaidyanathan, Padmabhushan awardee. At 15, Shreyasi moved to the Kalakshetra Foundation to undergo intensive training in the dance form. After six years of learning under renowned gurus and earning a post-graduate diploma, she returned to New Delhi. Shreyasi continued her learning under late guru Jamuna Krishnan and presently trains with guru Dr. G Ratheesh Babu. In 2014, she founded the Shreyasi Gopinath Dance Academy.
