At Malhar Laugh Club, we've had four open mics that included music, poetry and stand-up comedy in the past. We are moving away from this format and are now focusing only on stand-up comedy. This new format is called Mics at Malhar Laugh Club or in short MM. An open mic or open mike (shortened from "open microphone") is a live show at a venue such as a Courtyard Koota, in which audience members may perform on stage whether they are amateurs or professionals, often for the first time. As the name suggests, performers are usually provided only with a microphone. This is an opportunity for people to try out if they can perform to an audience. At Malhar Laugh Club, we have so far managed to find 3 fresh comics who have gone on to perform in the city as well. As audience members, do keep in mind that a lot of performers will be doing this for the first time, unlike curated performances.
