Mind Manifesto Society at Sly Granny with Author Vanaja Pillai Readings from her debut book “OMANA” Wednesday, 14th Sept, 2022 – 5 to 7 PM – Free entry Readings from Vanaja Pillai's debut book OMANA, followed by similar discussions about Gender Equality with like-minded people Omana tells fifteen stories of contemporary Indian women and their unique challenges and experiences. The intent of the book is to use the power of storytelling to share unfamiliar truths, and discover people we otherwise would not have noticed. Even if they were right in front of our eyes! The book explores the possibility of educating, creating awareness and holding a mirror to society, with the age-old tool of simple story telling. If only we listen to the stories of underrepresented communities - be it women, people with disabilities or the queer community - we would be richer and more harmonious for it. In this session, Vanaja Pillai, the author of Omana will read a few stories from the book, open it up for discussion and invite the audience to share their experiences and stories as well. Because sharing diverse stories is the crucial first step towards a truly inclusive world. The Mind Manifesto Society is Sly Granny’s own Philosophy Club. Its focus is contemporary, stimulating issues for urban dwellers and seekers. A modern take on the Epicurean Garden, the Mind Manifesto Society seeks smart people, who enjoy the art of debate, introspection and a bit of good conversation with like minded people.
