You'll learn how to patch virtual modules to create unique sounds, explore hands-on techniques to shape audio, and discover the creative potential of modular synthesis—all without needing any prior experience or hardware. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to create your own unique drone synth. Perfect for musicians, sound designers, or anyone curious about the world of synthesis!

What you need to bring to the workshop? - A laptop with VCV Rack installed ( https://vcvrack.com/Rack#get ) [Install the free version] - A pair of headphones - A curious pair of ears - And a sense of play :) Who is it for? - Anyone curious about the world of sound and interested in synthesizing their own sounds. No prior experience in sound is required, but is always helpful.   

About the Facilitator 

Vaibhav Batra is an educator, composer, and live performer who uses modular synths and field recordings to play improvised live sets that oscillate between drones, glitch, and a-temporal ideas. A proponent of free improv, he is also one of the founding members of Dilli Improvisers Orchestra, the first such improv ensemble in the country. In the past, he has taken his improv sets to Magnetic Fields, and intimate rooms in Delhi and Mumbai. His work has also travelled to the UK and Australia, as part of a Sound and IMage festival.
