Morning Raagas is a concert of Hindustani Raag Sangeet featuring morning melodies. Hindustani Classical music has a unique tradition of Raagas being sung at specific times and seasons. Due to the nature of life today, most concerts these days tend to happen in the evening making morning Raagas less heard. Join us in welcoming the dawn with Raagas.
About the artists:
Aniruddh Aithal:
Aniruddh Aithal is a Hindustani classical vocalist. He formally started learning from Smt. Geetha Garud Prithviraj, daughter and disciple of the legendary Tabla maestro Pt. D.S Garud, at the tender age of 10. After 8 years of rigorous training, with the gracious blessings of his Guru, Aniruddh is now receiving training from Dr. Ashok Huggannavar, a disciple of the legendary maestros Pt. Lingaraj Buwa Yaraguppi, Pt. Sangameshwar Gurav and Pt. Basavaraj Rajguru. He considers himself lucky to have found two Gurus who have been extremely patient, methodical and prolific in their teaching.
Aniruddh won the extremely prestigious All India Radio national level competition in the year 2017. He has also won numerous medals at the university level for his engineering college at youth festivals held every year. He is also the recipient of scholarships given by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), New Delhi and the Karnataka Sangeetha Nruthya academy. Aniruddh has also been conferred an 'A' Grade by All India Radio in 2023 being one of the youngest artists in the country to have received this gradation. Recently, he has been awarded the very prestigious Shanmukhananda Bharat Ratna Dr. M S Subbulakshmi Fellowship for 2024 which was conferred upon him in the month of September, 2024. He has also been conferred the Sur Jyotsna award by the Lokmat Group for emerging artists for the year 2025. Aniruddh has also completed his first tour of the US and Canada during the summer of 2025 to great appreciation and response.
He performed at the CentreStage Festival on the 08th of December 2023, at Sundar Nursery, New Delhi. He has also performed at the very prestigious Sawai Gandharav Festival at Kundgol along with some very established artists. In addition to this, he has also performed at the IIT Chennai as part of their Cultural Outreach encouraging young talent across the country. He has also performed several jugalbandhis alongside Hindustani and Carnatic Vocalists as well as Hindustanti Jugalbandhis with eminent flautists. He has also performed at “Aarohi”, a platform promoting young talent from across the country to great response and acclaim.
Ujith Uday Kumar
Ujith Uday Kumar embarked on his tabla journey at age three under his father's guidance, later refining his skills under Tabla Maestro Ustad Rafiuddin Sabri. His musical talent earned recognition in zonal, district, state, and national competitions. Honored with the title "Dhruvtara of India" by Vice President Shri. Venkaiah Naidu in 2019, he performed at TEDx Vivekanand School and won the first position in the "Sangeet Milon Classical Voice of India" competition. He also received “Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Kalasree National Fellowship Award” from Malayala Kala Sahithya Samskrithi and the “BALA PRATIBHA-2018” Award from Parmarth Foundation.
Ujith consistently excelled in competitions, winning the "Bala Pratibha-2018" Award and recognized for "Excellence in Fine Arts" by Vivekanand School in 2016. Serving as an ICCR Panel Artist for the "Drums of India" project, Ujith exemplifies exceptional talent in instrumental music.
Tejas Katoti
Tejas Katoti was initiated into music under the legendary Harmonium maestro Pt. Rambhau Bijapure. He continued his musical education under his father Dr. Ravindra Gururaj Katoti. He was a recipient of the C.C.R.T. Scholarship, Ministry of Human and Cultural resources from 2019-21. He is recognised as a 'B High grade' artist by the Musical Audition Board, A.I.R. He has completed his bachelors degree at College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishad and his Masters degree at School of Performing Arts, Bharatiya Vidyapeeth. He's currently working as a Lecturer at PES university, Bengaluru.
