In collaboration with Suchitra Film Society, we launch German Kino, a curated monthly series of German films. This year, the films will reflect the themes that the world is celebrating. In April the spotlight is on "health". The third film to be screened under this series is Mountain Miracle - An Unexpected Friendship (Amelie rennt), directed by Tobias Wiemann. Amelie rennt ©Amelie rennt The film depicts teenager Amelie's life. Amelie, who grew up in Berlin, has to take a medical cure in the mountainous South Tyrol after a violent asthma attack. Despite further attacks, she embarks on a multi-day and hard ascent to the summit cross, which is accompanied by Bart, a young enigmatic cow herder from the village, who makes her purpose possible. Suchitra Film Society started in 1971 as a forum for screening of films from around the world, which were not available in the regular commercial distribution networks. The Society continues to serve its cultural objective of making available the best of the cinema of the world to its members and public at large. It believes that creating choices of film viewing is a first step in creating good audiences for the good cinema. Entry free!
