Event Description

Vidwan Sri Mysore A. Chandan Kumar, a celebrated Carnatic flutist. Chandan Kumar hails from a family steeped in musical tradition. He is the great-grandson of the legendary violinist, Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Sangeetha Ratna late Mysore Sri T. Chowdaiah (1895–1967). Sri Chowdaiah was not only an acclaimed Carnatic icon but also a solo artist and an accompanist to stalwarts of his time. The Indian government has honored his legacy by instituting an award in his name for outstanding senior artists. Additionally, the state of Karnataka has built an auditorium shaped like a violin as a tribute to this maestro. Chandan Kumar’s journey began under the tutelage of Vidwan Sri M. Gopalakrishna. He also seeks guidance from the revered Padmabhushan Sri P. S. Narayana Swamy of Chennai. He has graced prestigious stages, including the Akashavani Sangeeth Sammelan and the South Zone hook-up program on Doordarshan. His flute playing is characterized by a powerful blow, soul-stirring melodies, and innovative creativity. Chandan Kumar’s music resonates with tradition. His flute melodies transport listeners to a realm where creativity and devotion harmonize.
