Pandit Basavaraja Rajguru, a legendary figure in Indian Classical music, lived a life of ascetic devotion to his craft. Renowned as `Hukumi Ekka` in the music world, he began his musical journey under the guidance of his father, later refining his skills through various influential mentors, including Vamanrao Master`s Drama Company, Shiva Yoga Mandir, Sri Panchakshari Gawai, Sawai Gandharvar, Bua, and Ustad Wahid Khan, among others. Despite having many teachers, his musical essence remained deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Kannada culture. Rajguru honed his craft at Panchakshari Gawai`s mobile music school in Gadag and dedicated much of his practice to traveling across the country. The play Na Rajguru is inspired by his life and remarkable musical accomplishments.
