Event Description

Shambhavi School of Dance, premier Kuchipudi Gurukul of Karnataka, is organizing the 7th edition of Nāyika – a National Dance Festival, brainchild of Smt. Vyjayanthi Kashi, Presidential Awardee and Founder Director of Shambhavi School of Dance, on 15th March 2023 at Seva Sadan, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru from 6pm onwards.

Ever since the resurrection of Indian Classical Dances, the contribution of women has been profound. They have contributed as performers, gurus, choreographers, critics, scholars, and more. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, we celebrate the lives of many a dancing soul who have contributed to the glorification of Indian art. As part of the 7th edition of Nāyika, the Shambhavi School of Dance wishes to recognize and honor the contributions of Smt. Vimala Rangachar, Rajyotsav Awardee & Founder Member, President of M.E.S Institutions with the NᾹṬYAŚᾹSTRA AWARD.

Guests of Honour: Guru Smt. Lalitha Srinivasan (SNA Awardee) and Dr. Nagamani Srinath, (SNA Awardee).

This will be followed by dance performances of three brilliant dancers Dr. Shobha Shashi Kumar from Bangalore (Bharatanritya), Dr. Rajashree Warrior from Trivandrum (Bharatanatyam) and Smt. Shylaja, Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee from Chennai (Kuchipudi).
