Event Description

The format of the show is written in the style of a contemporary vaudeville or variety entertainment show. The performance initially starts with the character Hasan, who engages the audience directly in conversation. This interaction initiates the human element of the piece until he is rudely interrupted by his artistic partner. It then descends into chaos as the two characters become a bickering couple. As No Strings Attached suggests, this is the beginning of the breakdown of the fabric of social values. An inability to stay connected with each other on a personal and communal level. We show three different periods of time to reflect those breakdowns. The present as mentioned, the past presents the loggerhead of two opposing cultures, and the piece finally declines into a dystopic future, one in which we view the potential of where Artificial Intelligence could lead us. The performance is predominantly in English and has a segment in Hindi with moments in Kannada and Spanish. It contains elements of dance, mime, prose, and improvisation laced with humor throughout. However, even though the façade is pure entertainment, a thought-provoking concept underlies it.
