Event Description

Mrinal Mathur is an accomplished playwright from Delhi. Pashmina Pashmina is an unfeigned and heartwarming story of humans that takes us through a journey of shared loss and grieving, set in the backdrop of the tragic events that shook Kashmir. It is a tale moulded around an old couple who take a poignant trip to the valley, disguised as a vacation by the husband, since something much much personal calls them there. They journey to Kashmir as instructed by an old piece of paper that the husband holds dear and during the last few days, things brew as they encounter a boisterous trader and a Kashmiri shopkeeper. As things unravel and secrets unfold at this shopkeeper`s shop, one will be taken on a rollercoaster ride with emotions of anger, grief, empathy, and love. The story starts and ends because of a Pashmina - which turns out to have much more significance than just a piece of cloth. Through and through, the play highlights the unethical bureaucracy and red-tapism prevalent in the government and its officers; how everything (major policies and decisions) is about power, control, and influence, rather than the benefits of the people. The play gradually jumps to a few years ahead. The plan is fully functional now. The minister is pleased. He has been promoted. The bureaucrats too, have moved up in their careers. All is going well, until…
