The NGMA is Bengaluru's own little gem for art lovers. If you enjoy the Visual Arts, you are likely familiar with this wonderful gallery. If this space is new to you, you are in for a treat.
The galleries at the NGMA are housed in the historic Manikyavelu Mansion, which is set amid a lush, green campus, every inch of which demands to be drawn.
We invite you to join a group of art enthusiasts, who share your love for drawing. You don't need artistic skill to participate in this event - just boundless curiosity and a love for drawing. So, bring along your sketch-book and join us as we draw a slice of Bengaluru history at the beautiful campus of the NGMA.
We will begin our session with a brief introduction by the BlrHubba team on the historical relevance of the space. Following this, there will be a brief introduction to the concept of on-location sketching and sketch journaling by the founders of Penciljam.
We will then disperse to find interesting views and locations to draw NGMA, the currently ongoing and extensive exhibit of Nandalal Bose and J.M.S Mani or the beautiful trees that dot the campus. Drawing activity will continue for two hours, after which we will regroup to discuss our drawings, for Q&A about each others sketches and for group photographs.
About Penciljam
Our beloved Bengaluru is known as a garden city, and while it is true that it is home to beautiful parks and gardens, it also abounds with spaces that speak of history and culture.
Penciljam was founded 15 years ago to explore these many facets of Bengaluru through drawing in groups. Over these years, members of our community have captured our city's history and culture, it's people and their preoccupations through lively and highly personal drawings and paintings.
Penciljam is a project of Nabachika Foundation for the Citizen Arts, which promotes art as a way to focus attention on our city through the act of drawing. Nabachika Foundation promotes the idea that we can go beyond being simply consumers to being active creators, and that everyone with an interest in creating can participate in our Citizen Arts initiatives. No artistic skills or background required.
