Event Description

This Sun, 6 Mar 2022 Ranga Shankara presents Poems and Stories of the Wari by Kavya Srinivasan and Chandrakant Redican.

 

'Poems and Stories of the Wari’ is an hour long conversation about the Warkari Tradition in Maharashtra, infused with stories, songs and spoken word poetry. They will take you into the lives and stories of some of the Saints in the Warkari tradition, and what they mean to us today!

 

About Kavya:

Kavya Srinivasan is a storyteller, theatre actor and playwright. She has been on stage for the last ten years, and most recently was made Artist in Residence for Theatre at the Intercut Labs, a British Council project for Indo-Welsh creative exploration. In her free time, she can be found reading, singing and daydreaming.

 

About Chandrakant:

Chandrakant Redican is a Spoken Word Poet and Science Communicator. He is currently doing an ongoing project called Digital Waari where he is translating and sharing Marathi Bhakti poetry on social media. He has till date translated over 200 Marathi Abhangs of Sant Tukaram, Chokhamela, Janabai, Kanhopatra and Nagari.

 

Apart from this Chandrakant has organised over 200 poetry events in the form of Slams, Open Mics, Shows and Curated performances. He has performed his poetry at the Goa arts and Literature Festival, the Pune International Literary Festival and Mood Indigo to name a few.
