Event Description

Queer Poets collective is formed to celebrate & discuss poetry written by Queer individuals in Bangalore, to document queer voices and experiences.

Conceptualised by Rumi Harish, Bangalore-based queer activist, poet, musician and writer and Dadapeer Jyman, poet, who recently won two Sahitya Academy Awards, at the national level and the TOTO Award Toto Funds the Arts for the best young poet in Kannada. The intent is to encourage young poets to learn and contribute to queer history through memories, experiences and imagination.

This month the poet in focus is Bharath Savithri Divakar. Poets are encouraged to read poems at the gathering. In collaboration with Queer Poets’ Collective and Maraa Speakers Bharath Savithri Divakar Storyteller, Poet & Writer Bharath Savithri Divakar is a storyteller, spoken word poet and writer. He has been deeply influential in building the spoken word poetry scene in Bangalore. He has performed at events such as Spoken Fest, Language Fest, and Times Litfest among others. He works as a screenwriter for TV having written more than 2000 episodes until now.

Rohini Malur Poet & Tarot Reader Rohini Malur is a tarot reader, poet and bookworm. She is a founding member of All Sorts of Queer, and the founder of Queer Reads Bangalore.
