Sound Awake is back with yet another bombshell of a band! About the Artist: Dr. K. S. Harisankar Playback Singer | Music Producer Dr. K.S Harisankar is an award winning Indian playback singer, lead vocalist in Pragathi, the music band and a music producer from Kerala. He has extensive training in Indian Carnatic music and significant experience in playback singing and live performance. Growing up in an illustrious family of classical musicians, he built a strong foundation in Carnatic music at an early age. Son of musicians Alleppey KS Sreekumar and Kamalalekshmi, Harisankar was trained by his grandmother, veteran Carnatic vocalist K. Omanakutty, and his father. 

He has performed in various sabhas like Madras Music Academy, Naradha Gana Sabha, Chemabi Sangeetholsavam to name a few. Pragathi Band Though he graduated in dental surgery, he recognized his immense passion to form a music band and there originated Pragathi Band in 2015, which has been winning hearts with their livewire performance on stage and music videos on YouTube. The band released their first cover song, Pookal Pookum Tharunam in 2017, originally composed by GV Prakash for the movie Madrasapattinam, the cover version in the melodious voice of Harisankar crossed 35 Million views on YouTube.

A special mention to the cover song Jiya Jale which received more than 20 Million views on YouTube, originally composed by A. R. Rahman for the movie Dil Se, the song was recreated by Pragathi Band in collaboration with Rajhesh Vaidhya (renowned Veena player). Journey into playback singing He made debut in playback singing at the tender age of five, singing along with eminent singer KJ Yesudas, for the movie Saphalyam.

His musical journey is a beautifully woven tapestry, with vivid colors and sounds from classical to film music. He soon had the opportunity to work with eminent music producers in Malayalam film industry. Some of his famous songs are ‘Kaatte Chaariya’ from movie Kaaranavar in 2014, ‘Payye payye’ from movie Ormayundo Ee Mukham in 2014, ‘Marhaba Marhaba’ from movie Lailaa O Lailaa in 2017.
