Vidhushi Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi will be presenting a Carnatic violin concert with a theme inspired by the 5 elements of nature. She will be accompanied by Vidwan Tumkur Ravishankar on the mridangam and Vidwan Pramath Kiran on the Tabla and Morsing. Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi
A fifth-generation musician of the illustrious Lalgudi bani, Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi, daughter and disciple of legendary musician, Lalgudi G Jayaraman, is an artiste who engages both deeply and variedly with her music. As a violinist, she performs solo, duet, as an accompanist and collaborates with artistes across genres. She is also an accomplished vocalist, a composer, and a teacher. As a composer, besides musical compositions such as thillanas, varnams and krithis, she has also composed both lyrics and music for full length dance dramas, and set to tune works of great poets. With a sparkling four-decade-long journey in music, Vijayalakshmi has been recognized for her music through a slew of awards and accolades, including the most prestigious Sangita Kalanidhi by The Music Academy. A compliment she holds as particularly special is one that Pandit Ravi Shankar ji, the legendary sitar maestro showered on her, following her performance in the United States a few years ago - “You have your father’s fingers. Your music has touched my soul”. In her trust Krutagnya (Sanskrit for gratitude), Vijayalakshmi has been working to create awareness about the varied aspects of music and provide a stage for budding violinists from different schools to showcase their talent.
S G Pramath Kiran
S G Pramath Kiran, a distinguished percussionist, music producer, and sound engineer, is a leading musician in India. Having embarked on his musical journey at the age of 3, he possesses expertise in both Carnatic and Hindustani music. Renowned for collaborations with top musicians worldwide, he founded Laya Digi Studios, producing numerous records. Notably, he's a featured artist in a Grammy award-winning album Devine Tides by Ricky Kej, showcasing his exceptional musical prowess.
Tumkur B. Ravishankar
Tumkur B. Ravishankar is a senior Mridangam artist and a Top Grade Artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. He hails from a family of traditional Mridangam musicians. He began his training under his father, Sri Tumkur T. V. Bhadrachar, and later received advanced training from the renowned maestro Guru Sri Karaikudi R. Mani.
Known for his clarity and control across both slow and fast tempos, Ravishankar has accompanied many leading Carnatic musicians. He has performed extensively in India and abroad and has received several titles and awards. He is currently associated with Akashvani, Mysuru, as a Top Grade Mridangam Artist.
