Artist Bharati Sagar, presents her artwork in a show titled “Preserving Magnificence” to celebrate “International Tiger Day” at Reves, the Art Gallery from the 7th to 25th of August, 2022. The art show is a versatile, larger than life presentation of endangered species. The body of works speak through the artist’s earthy tones and layered works engaging in subtle realities taking one closer to the life around these wonderful creatures and how one can appreciate and learn to honour their boundaries with greater understanding and perception. Bharati Sagar’s collection of paintings is a tribute to the magnificence of this beautiful earth and it’s varied awe-inspiring inhabitants. The show epitomises how we have to put in Herculean efforts in order to preserve whatever we have left, so that future generations can also enjoy the pleasures that we have taken for granted. The Reves Gallery and the artist will be contributing 10% of the proceeds to the Wildlife,Conservation Society. As an animal lover, Bharati’s sensitivity towards wild life is empathetic with her concern for the dwindling numbers in certain species; in a sense emphasising her response to an era like ours, marked by the heightened negative impact of human actions on earth. The nature of her materials particularly her very organic medium of citric acid and metal dust with a little touch of acrylics colours in some add meaning through these juxtapositions; to nature in general and the wild life in particular. Says Bharati Sagar, “It dawned on me like a strong reminder when I saw in various media how during the lock down rare animals were coming out of their forced habitat (forced, for want of safe space, safe from the human species) and roaming around in the cities, finding them to be theirs again, as if to reclaim their own heaven. I felt the need to showcase my feelings for these beautiful but voiceless creatures as a reminder to mankind, through my artworks and hence came up with this show”. The artist lives and works from her studio in Bangalore (www.bharatisagar.in) Bharati has held several shows in India and abroad including in New York, Chicago, and Italy. She is the recipient of several awards including the Lalit Kala Academy award, The Lalit kala Parishad State Award, as well as the prestigiousChitrakala Parishad State Award. Says the Gallerist, Rajini Rekha “At Reves we have been exploring themes like heritage, environmental consciousness, and women’s rights, in collaboration with established curators on contextualised art practices of experienced as well as young artists”
Price for the artworks starts at Rs. 15000/-
