Event Description
This is a beginner-friendly, creative workshop to introduce you to the world of letterpress printing – the oldest traditional form of relief printing. This 500-year-old printing method was used to make the very first books and newspapers. After a brief foray into the pleasingly tactile, analogue world of letterpress printing, you’ll be taken through its history, background and all the niche terms involved. Dabble in some old-fashioned typesetting, learn to compose metal type and print your own piece of typographic art using a 90-year-old tabletop printing press to produce mini card prints! Note: This workshop is designed for a small group of around 15 individuals, so please RSVP only if you can definitely attend! All necessary materials will be provided at the event venue.
