Event Description

bangaloREsident@1Shanthiroad, Gözde Ju, aims to highlight the reality and ambiguity of women's memories, pasts, and consciousness, by utilising various disciplines such as sewing, embroidery, found objects, video, and photography in her works.

For her bangaloREsidency project she focuses on textile handicraft objects and production processes created by women. She investigates how the cultural change is reflected in handicrafts (such as napkins, tablecloths, cultural talismans) both as motifs and forms.

The exhibition Pride, Wisdom, and Garden, produced in collaboration with local artisans and women’s communities in Bangalore traces the experiences of women, initiates dialogues and identifies domestic cultural objects and materials, collects individual stories about the cultural heritage inherited from their mothers related to handicrafts from different cultural ethnicities.

The exhibition opens on November 18, 2024 at 6.00 p.m. and will be on display on November 19 and 20, 2024 from 12 noon to 8.00 p.m.
