Event Description

Bengaluru-based dancer and choreographer Sonia Soney along with Akilesh Dayanand will be presenting a work-in-progress version of their newest dance work, Purpose 3.0. The dance piece was staged by Sonia most recently at the Attakkalari India Biennial's Open Studio programme. This performance will be more experimental and intuitive as she takes the audience along into the process of creating Purpose 3.0 including the research it entailed.

Purpose 3.0 was born out of Sonia's research on cultural differences that seemingly separate us and the underlying universal connection that all beings share. As a choreographer, she developed a movement vocabulary with respect to women’s bodies for this piece. In most gender-reflective performances, a lot tends to get lost while communicating to the opposite gender. Sonia hopes to break these barriers through this quietly political piece.
