Event Description

RaceFor7 is an awareness run organised by the Organisation for Rare Disease India (ORDI) to highlight the challenges faced by people living with rare diseases and their families. The event symbolically represents the more than 7,000 documented rare diseases through 7,000 participants running or walking 7 kilometres.

Rare diseases affect an estimated 1 in 20 Indians, with nearly half of those affected being children. Many do not survive beyond early childhood due to delayed diagnosis, limited access to treatment, and high medical costs. RaceFor7 aims to raise awareness and connect patients and families with national and international support resources, in the lead-up to Rare Disease Day, observed globally on the last day of February.

The 2026 edition will be held on February 22. In Bengaluru, the venue is St. Joseph’s Indian High School, opposite UB City, with a 10 km timed run flagging off at 6.15 am, a 7 km run/walk at 7.00 am, and a dedicated 7 km Rare Disease Patient (RDP) walk at 7.07 am. Participants from across India can also join virtually.
