Event Description

Padmabhushana Dr D V Gundappa (affectionately known as DVG all over Karnataka) was a journalist, poet, philosopher and scholar rolled into one. Best-known for his immortal work Mankutimmana Kagga, DVG composed many other classics in Kannada. Most notable among them is Antahpuragite, a one of its kind compilation of Musical compositions celebrating the world-renowned bracket figures of the Channakeshava temple in Belur. Thanks to the sheer poetry and lucidity of these compositions, they have become massively popular among the music and dance fraternity of Karnataka.

Ragavalli Fine Arts Foundation feels honored to present this unique work of art to connoisseurs in a Lecture-cum-Demonstration format.

Sri Arjun Bharadwaj, a multilingual scholar and one of the brightest young minds in the area of Indian Classical Arts will introduce and discuss the compositions and the figures they describe.

Sri Kashyap N Naik, trained in the Hindustani Classical style of Music, will render the compositions and bring home the musical content in them. He will be accompanied by Sri Prajnana LeelashukaUpadhyaya on the Harmonium and Sri M C Srinivas on the Tabla.
