Ramachandram Bhavayami brings to life the rare and powerful women of the Ramayana, figures of immense strength, influence, and devotion, each deeply impacted by Rama’s actions yet honoring him with unwavering loyalty.
Through a unique blend of Bharatanatyam and spoken narration, the performance reimagines their voices, offering fresh insights into Rama Bhakti, resilience, and love.
One highlight is Ramya Ramnarayan’s striking portrayal of Soorpanakha. A masked, dramatically attired figure enters with bold, expressive movement in Thakkukku Dhikkukku (Adi). Her first sight of Rama (Lavanya Rama, Tyagaraja) is rendered with poignant music, delicate violin, and a compelling mix of desire, wonder, and vulnerability.
