This weekend head to Ranga Shankara for World Theatre Day and witness a wonderful play, Adhura.
We feel inspired by the many personalities and their ideas from our mythology and history, or rather we claim to be inspired by them. But do these stories that inspire; rescue us in times of dilemma? Or do they give rise to more dilemmas?
Why do we burden ourselves with perspectives that are inherited? How do we make our choices? Is it only us? Our circumstances? Or something more?
Our play ‘Adhura’ is a contemplation on the shifts that happen between an individual’s place in the world and his thoughts.
Journey of ‘Adhura’
This play was conceived in a playwriting workshop ‘Build your score’ at Our Theatre Collective. A short piece was developed by Suranjay, a participant in the workshop. Then through multiple discussions and drafts over the period of one year it took a form of a solo play. The play opened in October’20 and we have performed 14 shows so far in multiple venues. Last year, it traveled to Kolhapur and Nagpur too.
