AHA! Theatre For Children is Ranga Shankara's commitment to making and presenting plays, workshops, and storytelling on a sustained basis to children from the age of around 2 to 12 years. Now in its 14th year, this festival that is so popular with parents and children alike is on from 19-23 Jul. The clutch of 5 awesome plays is loosely hung on the peg of a simple thought that "LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL".

The festival is a melange of storytelling that talks of Earth Stories, Theatre Games and Clowning workshops that allow children a peek into other ways of connecting with ideas and themselves. Says Arundhati Nag, Director of Ranga Shankara, about AHA, “There is no magic wand to change things but yes - in this bleak landscape, there is cause for celebration too. A network of people concerned about what art is presented to children is coming together across India. A clutch of talented theatre makers who believe that the early years are the time of maximum absorption and this is the time when the power of ideas and imagination are to be kindled in children to create good memories is making fine age-specific work. We are showcasing 5 such nuggets at this festival.

From JUST HISS - a play about a snake that delves into the predicament of this wonderful and yet grossly misunderstood creature of the Earth, to HAANV GHARA ASA - that means "I am at home", which is a play about kids having a blast at home and taking pride in and seeing beauty in keeping their homes clean and fresh and welcoming and peaceful, among other fascinating performances and events. So, I would like parents and teachers to give their children the gift of good theatre and reiterate that 'LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!'”
