Event Description

The one-hour set will involve and engage the audience with folk melodies sung in contemporary sensibilities and arrangements at this Sunday’s RS Connect at Ranga Shankara.

Born and brought up in the coastal city of Mangalore, Praveen Alva was surrounded by the rich culture of the land. Being creatively inclined from a young age, he has been involved in theatre groups during his academic years and has written and performed plays and street plays in Kannada, Hindi and Tulu.

He is a self-taught guitarist and songwriter and writes in his mother tongue Tulu. His songs talk about various moods and topics, about longing for his grandmother, his village, a feast, a kid's ghost, about wings and fire, and power and manipulation. His first single in 2021 titled 'Prarthaney' was nominated for a few Independent International Film Festival and has won accolades under 'The Best Music Video' category.
