Well-known professor of English from Mysore, B.N. Balajee, will exhibit his extensive and rare collection of Shakespearean artefacts and memorabilia spanning several decades at Ranga Shankara on 22nd and 23rd April, 2022. To mark the Bard of Avon’s birth anniversary, Prof. Balajee will display his collection of LP records of rare Shakespearean productions, rare posters, brochures, stamps, photographs, books, translated works, quills, trinkets and more.
As part of ‘RS Connect’ on 23rd April (5.30 pm - 6.30 pm), Prof. Balajee will perform a dramatised reading of famous Shakespearean monologues, and decipher Shakespeare’s language, showing that the Bard’s writing is not as hard to understand as one often feels.
About Prof. B.N. Balajee
He is a renowned professor of English who has served with distinction at Mysore and Sai Baba universities, is an erudite scholar and a household name among lovers of English literature in Karnataka. He has distinguished himself as a keen student of literature, critic, research guide, and a sizzling motivator and versatile trainer of teachers in the traditional as well as open and distance learning mode. After 40 years of PG and UG teaching, Prof. Balajee is known as an expert mentor for those who take up GRE and GMAT tests, KAS and IAS. Prof. Balajee is a frequent broadcaster with three books and over 180 study materials and 30 articles to his credit. Since January 2014, he has been deeply involved in the organisation activities in institutions across Karnataka to promote Shakespeare studies.
As a Shakespearean scholar, he has taught the Bard’s work for four decades. He was the secretary of the Dhvanyaloka Shakespeare Festival. He has a rare and a unique collection of the legacy of the Bard. This includes pictures, postcards, posters, photographs, display cards and theatre material he has collected from London Stratford, New York, Bombay, and Delhi. He has held dozens of exhibitions with his rare collection of artefacts and memorabilia of Shakespeare at national festivals of drama.
