Ranga Shankara is all set to reopen its auditorium on Sun, 15 Aug 2021. After nearly 5 months of no plays, Dhee Mahi's queer love story, 'Amma Mattu Suhail', will be the first play to be staged in the Ranga Shankara auditorium.
Directed by theatre artist and musician Karthik Hebbar, 'Amma Mattu Suhail' is an ode to queer love. A gay couple and a mother venture on a journey light-heartedly, only to explore depths which they never knew or imagined would be possible to unearth. The play will begin at 6:30 PM. Tickets are available at the Ranga Shankara Box Office and www.bookmyshow.in.
The theatre will reopen with all COVID-19 regulations and protocols in place and 50% capacity. Till the night curfew lifts, all shows will begin at 6:30 PM and end by 9 PM.
The opening by 'Amma Mattu Suhail' will be followed by other popular plays such as Rangaratha's 'Malavikagnimitra', Yuvashree's 'Simhachalam Sampige', and S N Sethuram's 'Stree', to name a few. New play 'Contractions' by the Kahe Vidushak Foundation will also premiere. Sanket's own 'Iti Ninna Amrita', featuring veteran actors Arundhati Nag and Srinivasa Prabhu, and Ranga Shankara's acclaimed children's puppet show, 'Circle of Life', also join the line-up.
"Ranga Shankara reopens on Sun, 15 Aug 2021! Theatre Alive after nearly 5 months. Come back, people! Come and fill our Karmabhoomi, our holy space, our workspace, our healing space with your presence and we will shower you with our Art! ", said Arundhati Nag.
