Event Description
Led by the great off spinner Erapalli Prasanna, the newly-renamed Karnataka state first won the Ranji Trophy in 1973-74. They ended Mumbai’s 15-year reign and then beat Rajasthan in the final. It began a redistribution of power in Indian cricket. Soon six Karnataka players from that final were in a touring Indian squad.
